Consumer Confidence Lifts as Aussies Look Ahead with Optimism
Australian consumer sentiment is showing signs of life again, with the latest ANZ Roy Morgan Consumer Confidence survey rising 2.9 points to 87.1 for the week of November 18–24, the strongest level since early September.
The report shows confidence has improved across most states, including Western Australia. Black Friday shopping activity played a role, with more Australians feeling it’s a good time to buy major household items. But importantly, long-term sentiment is also strengthening, with fewer people expecting economic challenges over the next five years.
This confidence boost is supported by Westpac’s latest Nowcast analysis, which estimates GDP growth of around 0.7% for the September quarter. The economy appears to be gaining steady momentum heading into 2026.
